SHORT TERM FOSTER GUARDIAN TO RESCUE DOGS IN TRANSITION
Change your life and theirs. Be a foster guardian!
Friends of Chance is looking for dog lovers to join our volunteer team by opening their homes to care for a rescue dog as a back-up caregiver. We are Foster Guardians that serve several Rescue Organizations by providing a home environment for the rescue dog and help evaluate the dog habits and behaviors so the organization can make better matches between the dog and their adoptive family.
Guardians provide a quality home environment for the dog (attention, affection, food, exercise, grooming, gentle training and sometimes special care that takes time and effort).
Shifts are a minimum of a 1 day to as long as 2 weeks. This depends on your availability, the dogs needs, and the guidance from the Rescue organization for which the dog comes from.
You do not need to be with the dog all day but at minimum, rescue dogs require two hours a day to as much time you can spend. Some dogs acclimate quickly to new environments but others require more care.
Foster Dogs bond quickly and have been known to recover quickly from abandonment. Offering a home to a rescue dog is rewarding especially when you helped transition the rescue dog to a new home.
Interested in being a Foster Guardian, please complete our Volunteer Application and someone will contact you to schedule a home visit.
